FUELING KINDNESS, a registered 501 (c)(3) nonproft, was established when it became impossible to look past the hardship our Long Island neighbors were facing, especially families who do not qualify for traditional aid yet are still in desperate need of warmth and support.
As a third-generation family business, Tragar Home Services has always believed that true comfort is about more than heating oil. It is about showing up for one another when it matters most. Fueling Kindness is that mission put into action.

What We’re Building
Fueling Kindness is growing into a Long Island movement of
care, action and collaboration. Together with our partners, we
aim to:
- Support hundreds of households each year
- Expand emergency delivery capacity
- Strengthen our network of schools, faith groups, and nonprofits
- Respond quickly during critical weather and crisis
- Ensure no Long Island family is left without heat

A Message from Our Founder
Fueling Kindness reflects what my family has believed in since my grandfather founded Tragar in 1956 — family, integrity, service, and kindness. We started this nonprofit so no family has to choose between heat and basic necessities.
Together with dedicated partners and caring neighbors, we can expand our impact, accelerate our response, and support hundreds more families each year.

We provide a one-time gift of up to 150 gallons of emergency heating oil to Long Island households in crisis, specifically those who don’t qualify for assistance programs but are still in urgent need. We respond swiftly, without the delays of traditional aid programs, delivering comfort when it’s needed most.
